Wärtsilä Energy Storage Business is looking for an experienced and energetic person for the position of Strategic Purchaser, batteries.
Accountabilities:
- Strategic Purchaser is responsible for strategic sourcing from his/her suppliers and responsibility area. He/she will manage, expand and develop global supplier base to meet the long term business requirements.
- He/she is accountable of leading the timely introduction to market of new sources or new products in close collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Your main responsibilities are
- Create and implement supplier strategies and action plans to meet Business Line requirements
- Co-operate with internal stakeholders product team, project management, proposal management and lifecycle management.
- Proactively lead the new supplier or new product introduction, including launch project management activities to support start of production, by collaborating cross-functionally with supplier, product development, procurement, logistics, and supplier quality
- Secure supplier capacity and availability for energy storage demand, taking into consideration cost and technology requirements.
- Ensure that Quality, Cost, Lead Time, Delivery Reliability and Agreement Coverage targets are met for Wärtsilä Energy Storage global supplier base.
- Monitor supplier performance with Supplier development function.
- Actively seek supply chain cost reduction opportunities as well as promote supplier or product value analysis/value engineering work
- Ensure compliance to Supply Management processes, procedures, strategies and agreements.
- Develop and implement cost-engineering capability to ensure profound understanding of cost drivers and levers to structurally reduce cost
- Contribute to long term supplier strategy creation. Search, evaluate and select new suppliers, identify best sources for new technologies
- Develop supplier base and supplier relationship management.
You will shine in this role when you have:
- Experience in battery industry
- Academic degree (B.Sc, M.Sc. or equivalent) in Electrical or Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or Economics
- Minimum 7 years of experience of strategic sourcing, supply chain, manufacturing or procurement with proven track record of results
- Experience of storage business or renewable energy business, or large scale industry project business preferred
- Knowledge of legal, financial and technology components of Strategic Sourcing.
- Excellent understanding of direct material cost drivers and proven track record of cost reduction strategies implementation
- Excellent analytical, communication and presentations skills
- Solution oriented, pro-active, problem solving and result driven attitude to work
- Self-guided and proactive team player, able to operate under pressure
- Ability to negotiate and sustain networking relationships.
- Ability to work in fast pace, dynamic and changing environment.
- Fluent in written and spoken English language.
Education:
- Academic degree (B.Sc, M.Sc. or equivalent) in Electrical or Industrial Engineering or Economics
