Wärtsilä Energy Storage Business is leading the transition towards a 100% renewable energy future. Wärtsilä Energy Storage Business is looking for an experienced and energetic person for the position of Sourcing Manager to lead the global strategic sourcing for our contract manufactured products.  

 

Accountabilities: 

  • For the global Energy Storage sourcing, the SP is accountable to manage and develop local contract manufacturing supplier base, performance, relationship and negotiations in close co-operation with relevant stakeholders to meet global sourcing needs and requirements.  

 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Manage, develop and renew supplier base locally, performance, relationships and negotiations in storage business within the Contract Manufacturing sourcing team with close cooperation with product, project and proposal management stakeholders under the direction of the Contract Manufacturing sourcing team leader. 
  • Lead the negotiations of agreement for contract manufacturing. Secure agreements coverage, price list coverage, supplier capacity and availability for energy storage demand in that specific Business Area 
  • Ensure that Quality, Cost, Lead Time, Delivery Reliability and Agreement Coverage targets are met for Wärtsilä Energy Storage global supplier base.   
  • Lead supplier relationships management with contract manufacturers and monitoring the supplier performance with Supplier development function. 
  • Participate at the cost model definition and deployment for contract manufacturing and actively seek supply chain cost reduction opportunities as well as promote supplier or product value analysis/value engineering work 
  • Ensure compliance to Supply Management processes, procedures, strategies and agreements. 
  • Enhance collaboration and teamwork with relevant functions and continuously improve the sourcing process  
  • Contribute and implement strategic sourcing capability, supplier strategies and action plans according to the product development strategy to meet Business Line requirements long-term.  
  • Ensure supplier capacities and capabilities to meet customer demands and support Wärtsilä’s strategy 
  • Take leadership of strategic initiatives in own business area  

 

Requirements:  

  • Minimum 5 years of experience of strategic sourcing, supply chain, manufacturing or procurement with proven track record of results in a complex manufacturing environment  
  • Minimum 5 years of experience of industrial manufacturing processes, preferably in project industry. Knowledge of multiple manufacturing methods and processes and understanding the associated costs. 
  • Experience in managing outsourced manufacturing and knowledge of related cost models.
  • Strong plus if experience on one of the following:
    • Sourcing role in energy storage business
    • Experience and knowledge on metal enclosure manufacturing (sheet metals, welding)
    • Experience on complex electrical or electronics assemblies.
  • Knowledge of legal, financial and technology components of Strategic Sourcing 
  • Excellent understanding of direct material cost drivers and proven track record of cost reduction strategies implementation  
  • Excellent analytical, communication and presentations skills  
  • Solution oriented, pro-active, problem solving and result driven attitude to work   
  • Self-guided and proactive team player, able to operate under pressure  
  • Ability to negotiate and sustain networking relationships. 
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast pace, dynamic and changing environment. 
  • Fluent in written and spoken English language.  

 

Education:  

  • Academic degree (B.Sc, M.Sc. or equivalent) in Electrical or Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain orEconomics
