Customer Support Field Engineer

Wärtsilä are currently recruiting for the position of Customer Support Engineer within the Transas subsidiary of Wärtsilä Corporation, which forms part of the Voyage Solutions division.

 

This role is within the European Customer support group’s engineering team. The Customer Support Engineer is responsible for performing Voyage Solutions system installation and maintenance. He /She represents the Voyage Solutions Customer Support team on-site to ensure work is completed professionally. Together with Support Coordinators and Technical Support Specialists, Customer Support Engineer is “the face to the customer”. Safety is important to Wartsila, the Customer support engineer is responsible to maintain a safe working site and to identify and mitigate all safety hazards.

 

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

Core responsibilities and tasks are supporting and servicing our installed navigation systems installed on thousands of commercial, governmental and military vessels worldwide. Our focus is on quality, efficiency, safety, and the ideal candidate should have these factors always at the forefront of the mindset. Why it´s important? Electronic navigation is mission critical for our customers as their business is all about requiring solutions to efficiently operate their mobile assets both locally and globally.

 

  • Stay-by onsite deployment based on Customer requests
  • Adhere to service requests on date & time, location, scope of work and any other instructions
  • Troubleshoot and inspect findings to determine source of problem, rectify or replace with Customers’ agreement
  • Escalate any issue beyond the service scope to responsible CS team/management
  • Ensure Customer is briefed on worked performed and service report is prepared and signed off by Customer
  • Ensure service work rendered complies with internal Service & Support processes
  • Ensure compliance to Code of Business Conduct and Quality Management system requirements
  • Support projects or other technical jobs required

 

What do we expect from you?

 

  • Technical apprenticeship and/or relevant BS degree and/or applicable IT/Electronics certification
  • Fluent in Swedish and English spoken and written incl. technical English
  • Troubleshooting, technical skills and solution envision
  • Preferred knowledge Windows operating systems, PC components
  • Preferred knowledge of marine radar and communication systems
  • Driver’s license
