We are looking for a Commercial Project Manager to join our team working for a better future. This can be a hybrid position, working from home and a min. 60% local office in Sydney, Australia. 

What you will be doing:
Battery Energy Storage is growing rapidly in Australia, and we are looking for a Commercial Project Manager to support the planning and commercial negotiation of Energy Storage sales efforts in the region. This position requires a high performing and experienced professional with project management and commercial management / contract negotiation experience. 
As the Commercial Project Manager your work will focus on these responsibilities: 

  • Support Business Development in the Project Management review of project proposals according to Wartsila guidelines.
  • Plan required project resources for project execution and give feedback to proposal team to incorporate labour hours into cost budgets.
  • Manage contract negotiations and act as customers contact point during negotiation phase. Lead the negotiation of acceptable and executable project delivery contracts.
  • Review and provide red-line changes to customer contracts.
  • Create project schedule milestone and all required milestone certificate documents for contract. 
  • Lead the review of project Division of Responsibility documents.
  • Support the Business Development Manager communication with production team, customer, and procurement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on contract expectations.
  • Participate in project lessons learned meetings.  Incorporate any required changes into proposal development process.
  • Support efforts to improve proposal costs and decrease schedule timeframe.
  • Identify opportunities for additional sales towards customer.
  • Develop risk strategy plans, based on risk profile of projects being negotiated.
  • Support team members to create firm project schedules for all project proposals.
  • Demonstrate leadership by following Wärtsilä Project Management Methodology and Business Directives.
  • Apply Project Management best practices. 
  • Support Project Manager’s as they are assigned to the proposal by answering any questions they may have about the contract and customer.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have : 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in commerce, management, engineering (or similar)
  • Minimum 3 years in contract negotiation of highly complex technical projects
  • Minimum 3 years in risk management
  • Project Management experience
  • Good negotiation and presentation skills 
  • Cost awareness & effectiveness
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Proactive attitude and positive Can-Do mind-set 

In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 5-10%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
