Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Power Systems Engineer to drive advancements in our electrical and power systems modeling tools, with a primary focus on dynamic modeling for inverter-based resources such as battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role is central to our Power Systems and Data Science team, supporting grid code analysis, stability assessments, and the development of automated power system optimization tools for both standalone and hybrid BESS with solar PV systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize dynamic models for BESS.
- Translate data models and algorithms into functional software, conducting rigorous simulation testing.
- Collaborate with software solutions and hardware testing teams to enhance battery system modeling.
- Improve internal models and tools to accelerate product development.
- Document algorithm and model updates with clear methodological justifications.
- Interpret technical specifications and electrical drawings for large-scale energy projects involving thermal generation, renewables, and storage.
- Adapt to evolving responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

Qualifications:
- Master's or Ph.D. in Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Solid foundation in electrical engineering principles and control systems.
- Demonstrated experience in modeling inverter-based resources.
- Proficiency in software tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, and DIgSILENT.
- Familiarity with AEMO Generator Performance Standards (GPS) and compliance processes.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with clients and internal teams.

Desired Skills:
- Experience with code-based modeling (e.g., PSCAD, PSS/E, DIgSILENT).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Fortran.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing tasks.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate within a team and seek assistance as needed.
