Sales Engineer Associate

We are currently seeking for an early career professional who is passionate in energy storage field and the renewables industry.

 

The Sales Engineer Associate will be responsible for supporting Wartsila’s Sales Engineering team together with the Sales team from technical RFP response and proposal submittals through contract execution in the MEA region.

 

The candidate will work closely with Wartsila’s MEA's Sales Engineering team, Product Management, Application Engineering and Software development as well as Services and the Commercial Support Engineering teams to support opportunity in the sales stage. This individual also acts as a strong support link to support the MEA Sales with a joint goal of solution team selling to provide a fully integrated energy storage systems & services solutions for both the standalone and hybrid design systems.

 

The candidate will support the development and submittal of proposals; and work with the Sales team, product management/application engineering team, and the marketing team to develop opportunities and ensure a smooth transition to handoff the projects to the Operations team (Delivery/Project execution) for executing the projects for our customers.

 

Your main responsibilities are

  • Assist in the proposal creation for energy storage projects;
  • Review specific customer requirements in the RFP/RFQ/RFI/customer requests and help identify unique value propositions for the integrated storage solution;
  • Contribute to the development of high-level as well as detailed system design drawings, layouts, and single line schematic diagrams;
  • Assist in generating specification development of the appropriate system components, calculation of system component ratings and quantities, and creation of the detailed bills-of-materials for the materials and labor cost estimates;
  • Assist in developing the software model architecture for the configurations of energy storage, and renewable generation to be used in grid-tied and/or standalone power applications that meet customer’s technical and business requirements. Development Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing improvements to current Wartsila’s GridSolv Quantum Energy Storage Solutions and Greensmith Energy Management System (GEMS) software Digital Energy Platform based on customer feedback;
  • Assist in further development and improvements of the Sales and Sales Engineering processes and tools.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Develop an understanding of Energy Storage technology and solution in the MEA region through providing assistance in the technical design of systems, and the development of the business models that support the economic case to deploy energy storage in the respective focus markets;
  • Assist in development of time-series system models and perform simulation analyses for system sizing, performance optimization;
  • Support Wartsila Sales Engineering team with the mission to identify and engage with Sales and our customers / all key accounts within the MEA region, as well as support Sales with the Energy Storage client relationships;
  • Support RFP/RFQ/RFI response process, participating in bidding strategy and partners selection discussions, working together with such partners to create proposal documents throughout the bidding stage.

 

You will shine in this role when you have:

  • General understanding of energy storage and renewable energy markets, projects, and products a plus.
  • Understanding of utility generation project development process a plus.
  • Familiarity with system schematics and single-line drawings.
  • Strong written, oral and presentation skills. Must be a proven and competent English writer, able to create grammatically correct and properly structured English proposal documents.
  • Passion for continuous learning and innovation, ability to adapt to fasting changing market demands, working independently and as a team member.
  • Willingness to take ownership and produce results.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic approach.
  • Ability to travel as required (estimated 5-10% of time).

 

Education:

Minimum BS degree in electrical engineering, power/system engineering, or equivalent prior work experience in the renewables field. MS degree a plus.
