Sales Support Engineer, SLS

 

In this position, you are part of the SLS Area Sales team in the global SLS Sales & Delivery organisation. The SLS Area Sales team delivers business growth in the Commercial Marine market via a proactive sales approach focused on ship owners, ship management, shipyards and partners targeting new build projects and life cycle vessel support.  

As the Sales Support, you will be responsible for sales support activities for mainly commercial market, but also from time to time, Naval sectors. You will be the active team member in sales support team working together with SLS sites, Services and Spares Parts Coordination team to ensure a first-class customer experience.  In this position, you will report to the Regional Team Leader, Sales Support, and will be located in Sydney (open to other areas in Australia)

 

Your main responsibilities are:

· Generate customer-specific solutions, specifications, and quotations according to the needs of Sales, for the SLS portfolio for New Build and Aftermarket business.

· Support the sales manager with bid management.

· Evaluate inquiries and register/maintain opportunity information in CRM.

· Support sales manager to configure solutions according to defined needs.

· Work with the sales manager to prepare cost calculations according to directives and agreed targets.

· Support Spares Parts Coordination team in upsell opportunities

· Ensure that response times for sales inquiries/requests/orders are met.

· Provide technical assistance to the sales team and customers.

· Participate in relevant sales meetings with customers when required.

· Organize and perform relevant process handover meetings with involved parties.

· Project management for sizeable opportunities

· A good technical knowledge and experience within the Marine Industry

· Bachelor in engineering, Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering is preferred

· Openness and willingness to adapt to change.

· Willingness to travel to meet customers when requested.

· Customer orientation.

· Wärtsilä SLS product and system knowledge is an advantage.

· Familiarity with Wartsila ERP(SAP and Salesforce) and Microsoft WORD/EXCEL/PPT/CRM/AUTOCAD/SAP.

· Fluent in English, with second language in Chinese or Korean is desired

· Enjoy creating clear business value with a goal-oriented mindset.

Regional Scope: The candidate will also be responsible for managing operations and stakeholder engagement across Australia (Sydney and other locations as required), New Zealand, Taiwan, and South Korea.

 

In this role, your success will be measured by:

· Order Intake, Sales & Margin for lifecycle and newbuild packages in your respective Region.

· Region Flash accuracy – in Order Intake, Sales, Commercial margin, etc.

· Region Opportunity and Leads management

· Engagement and participation of the regional team on WCI requirements
