Wärtsilä Field Service & Workshop is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Service Coordinator to join our team in Sydney. This is an on-site role requiring daily attendance at our workshop and is open only to applicants who already hold valid work rights in Australia.

As a Service Coordinator, you will play a vital role in planning, organising, and coordinating workshop activities to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of engine overhauls, component repairs, and lifecycle services. Serving as the central point of communication between the workshop, field service engineers, sales teams, and customers, you will contribute directly to operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and the smooth execution of service projects, all while upholding Wärtsilä’s commitment to quality and safety.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Workshop Operations: Plan and coordinate daily activities, including job scheduling, resource planning, and workflow optimisation.
  • Monitor Work Progress: Track job status to ensure deadlines, quality expectations, and safety requirements are consistently met.
  • CrossFunctional Collaboration: Work closely with Field Service, PCM, Service Sales, Agreement teams, and Technical Support to secure manpower, tools, and spare parts.
  • Maintain Accurate Documentation: Ensure correct and timely recording of job orders, WIP updates, and invoicing support documents.
  • Customer Communication: Provide proactive updates on progress, delivery timelines, and scope changes.
  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain adherence to Wärtsilä processes, OEM guidelines, and HSE regulations.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Support initiatives to enhance workflow efficiency, reduce turnaround time, and improve overall performance.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports on utilisation, job costs, workshop performance, and resource planning for management review.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • 3–5 years of experience in service administration or coordination, preferably within a multicultural technical environment.
  • Practical understanding of 4stroke engine lifecycle services, including overhauls, maintenance planning, and component repair workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of Field Service operations, including project coordination, resource planning, job execution processes, and customer interaction.

Travel Requirements:

This position requires a travel commitment of over 10%, covering both domestic and international destinations, including onshore and offshore locations. The role requires adaptability to varying travel demands, with the expectation of extended periods away from the primary work location. Prospective candidates should be prepared to meet these travel obligations as a key aspect of the position's responsibilities.

The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education, individual skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration of internal equity.
