Wartsila Field Service & Workshop is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Storekeeper to support our WAU Sydney workshop operations.

As a Storekeeper you will play a vital role in ensuring efficient inventory control, safety compliance, and smooth logistics coordination supporting engine overhauls and service operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The Storekeeper is responsible for managing workshop inventory, tools, PPE, and logistics operations while ensuring compliance with Wartsila QEHS standards and supporting efficient workshop operations.

1. Health, Environment & Safety (HSE)

  • Manage PPE stock, issuance, and compliance for all personnel and visitors.
  • Maintain PPE records and proactively replenish stock.
  • Report hazards, unsafe conditions, and near misses via WeCare.
  • Participate in toolbox talks and EHS audits.
  • Ensure safety signage and housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Handle and dispose hazardous waste in accordance with SDS.
  • Conduct safety walks and contribute to zero harm culture.

2. Tools & Equipment Quality Control

  • Inspect tools before issue and upon return (damage, calibration, safety).
  • Tag and remove defective tools from service.
  • Maintain tool register and calibration schedules.
  • Coordinate calibration of tools and lifting equipment.
  • Ensure no overdue calibration and zero non-conformances.

3. Purchasing & Inventory Management

  • Monitor stock levels and raise purchase requests proactively.
  • Verify specifications and track purchase orders.
  • Perform goods receipt (GR) and inspect incoming items.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and stock visibility.

4. Asset Management

  • Maintain asset register including condition and calibration status.
  • Identify tools requiring replacement or CAPEX support.
  • Tag and register new assets.
  • Manage asset disposal process including documentation and approvals.

5. Subcontracting Support (Workshop Equipment Maintenance)

  • Source and manage subcontractor quotations.
  • Coordinate workshop equipment repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure subcontractors comply with safety procedures.
  • Verify completed work and maintain service records.

6. Engine Components Handling

Receiving:

  • Verify deliveries against PO/packing list.
  • Inspect for damage and record discrepancies.
  • Label and store items correctly.

Dispatch:

  • Verify materials against job requirements.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, protection, and packaging.
  • Prepare delivery documentation and coordinate shipment.

Storage & Handling:

  • Segregate clean and unclean components.
  • Maintain organized and safe storage practices.

Documentation & Communication:

  • Maintain accurate inventory and movement records.
  • Communicate critical parts availability and delays to stakeholders.

7. Competence and Development

  • Complete all mandatory training.
  • Achieve required safety and high-risk certifications.
  • Continuously develop technical and workshop knowledge.
  • Participate in engine component and inventory system training.

8. Continuous Improvement

  • Support workshop continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and recommend efficiency and safety improvements.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant vocational qualification (AQF Certificate II or III in Warehousing, Logistics, Supply Chain) or related field
  • At least 2 years of proven experience in storekeeping, warehouse, or workshop operations
  • Strong understanding of inventory control and logistics processes
  • Familiarity with safety and compliance standards
  • Good coordination and communication skills internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a structured, detail-oriented, and safety-focused environment
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is an advantage
