Maintenance Supervisor - Mechanical

Wärtsilä is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to join our West Africa Operations in Tasiast, Mauritania. This role is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities of the HFO engine power plant, including planning an implementing maintenance for engines and their auxiliaries. The position ensures equipment reliability and maintains a clean, safe work environment. Excited to join the ride?

 

As a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, your daily duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage assigned maintenance responsibilities in accordance with Wärtsilä Services guidelines in a safe and proactive way in order to exceed the management expectations.
  • Work with the plant maintenance staff to ensure that the plant facility and equipment are maintained in safe an efficient operating conditions at all the times.
  • Provide schedules in line with the Maximo system for normal operating periods, planned and forced outages to plant maintenance team and execute the work according to the schedules and the work orders generated.
  • Updating the job done status to Maximo server as and when the job completed.
  • Ensure the equipment isolation prior to the job presumed with the shift supervisor.
  • Ensure the equipment cleanliness prior to hand over for shift operation.
  • Setting and maintaining the qualification & specific training standard for plant maintenance personnel and motivate the skilled maintenance personnel to assure good teamwork.
  • Communicate effectively with the plant team related to the condition of the plant equipment and performance, and implementing the preventive and corrective action as and if necessary.
  • Identify and actively seek to improve operations and maintenance, to provide operational reliability and availability, to maximize equipment life and to provide detailed feedback to Wartsila management.
  • Establish, implement and manage all maintenance aspects of the power plant inclusive of:

 

                1.Planned and Un-planned maintenance of engine & auxiliaries

                2. Plant inventory management in Maximo

                3. Equipment cleanliness and healthiness.

                4. Maintenance reporting

                5. Maintenance training

                6. Maintenance record up keeping

                7. Maximo, M-files and Sales force

                8. Spare parts inventory quality assurance

                9. To be familiar in Maximo inventory transactions.

 

  • Prepare annual plant maintenance plan, tools and spares required in conjunction with the Superior 
  • Trouble shooting of the power plant equipment. 

 

Apart from the above responsibilities, the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor will also be required to do the below: 

 

  •  Physical Requirements, Working Conditions and Housekeeping:

              1.Possibility of working on feet for extensive periods,

              2. Requiring stair and ladder climbing.

              3. Protective equipment is required while performing some duties (hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, ear protection, hot gloves, and high voltage protective                    equipment).

 

  • Position may require extended working hours and varied shifts with possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions. "On call" status may periodically be required.
  • All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program.
  • There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
  • It is the responsibility of each employee to assist in performing plant housekeeping and cleaning duties as required and as necessary to maintain the facilities in a safe and clean condition.

 

Requirements for the position:

  • Higher National Diploma(HND) or Degree in Engineering(B.Eng) or Technology (B.Tech) in Mechanical
  • 5- 8 years of Power Plant Experience.
  • Working experience in any Wartsila engines.
  • Maximo & Sales Force experience will be preferred
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Good observational skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team
