Wärtsilä Energy is seeking a skilled Shift Operator to join our team at the Tasiast site in Mauritania.

Main responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all activities relating to the Shift operations of the power plant.
  • To communicate effectively on daily basis with the Superior on issues related with the condition of the plant equipment's and its performance. Responsible for the equipment healthiness and to keep the work done area clean and tidy always.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain the plant during the shift according to company policies and procedures.
  • Work in conjunction with Maintenance team for ascertaining condition of equipment's, required maintenance activities and scheduled overhauls.
  • Assist supervisor in start-up, shut-down and normal operations of the power plant systems.
  • Complete and maintain all logs and running records in a clear and concise manner.
  • Take corrective action during system operational disturbance and/or bring such disturbances to the attention of Supervisor
  • Communicate effectively the condition of the plant equipment and performance to the reliever and bringing to his attention any operational disturbances, malfunctions and abnormalities.
  • Maintain the plant in clean & safe conditions at all the times.
  • Follow the safe work procedures.
  • Maintain personal safety gear in good condition.
  • Ensure the equipment's and work area, are clean and neat during shift operation.
  • Complete at least two plant rounds in a shift and report the abnormalities to the supervisor.
  • Share the knowledge among the team members to develop better teamwork
  • Comply with all safety regulations, environmental, health and safety standards, and industry-specific guidelines.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials or waste.
  • Respond to alarms and take appropriate actions to address any operational deviations or emergencies.
  • Collaborate with other team members and supervisors to ensure smooth and coordinated plant operations.
  • Report any incidents, malfunctions, or abnormalities to the Shift Supervisors for further investigation and resolution.
  • Monitor and analyze plant operations data, such as temperature, pressure, or levels, to maintain proper operating conditions and identify any deviations or abnormalities.

 

Requirements:

Educational Requirement:

  •  Higher National Diploma(HND) or Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor ofTechnology– Electrical or Mechanical with 2-5 years of work experience
  • Experience in working in Wartsila power generation plant.
  • Understanding of predictive and preventive maintenance best practices
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office and maintenance data analysis
