Technical Support Manager, Dubai

Wartsila Voyage Solutions Services (VSS) are responsible for the NCS (navigation, communication, sensors) and ADP (automation, dynamic positioning) service activities globally.  We are now looking for a seasoned Technical Support Manager to support India and Middle East customers. The person will report to General Manager, Voyage Solutions Services MEA.


The preferred location for the position holder is Dubai (United Arab Emirates).




  • Located in Dubai to support Middle East countries’ customers in Voyage Solutions Services 
  • Provide remote diagnosis of problems and definition of further steps to be taken to further isolate or remedy the problem, with appropriate communication to the customer and, if necessary, to other departments, whenever it is required
  • Attend Field Services activities in Middle East countries
  • Attend site survey and health check of customer installation on site
  • Perform root cause analysis of technical problems at ship and equipment level
  • Independent clarification of complex service problems of the entire product range including preparation of a detailed solution proposal in cooperation with the product management
  • Findings for special problem cases, if it is necessary, carry out of the required on-board repair, on board attendances for installation/commissioning/services
  • Preparing for meetings Technical topics and analysis for order and service management
  • Conduct Life Cycle Management meetings with customers to grow the installed base
  • Special tasks: participation on call on duty, surveys, trainer activities etc.
  • Strategize to achieve business growth and win retrofit opportunities in Middle East



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Maritime, Electrical, Electronics, Automation, or equivalent) 
  • Minimum 7 years of Field Service experience in Automation and/or Navigation services
  • Be a visionary, who can see the big picture, and likes to lead the way
  • Experience in providing customer's service support
  • Excellent knowledge of management methods and techniques
  • High level on customer service orientation
  • Excellent team player
  • Working knowledge of customer service software, databases and tools
  • Awareness of industry's latest technology trends and applications
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills
  • Advanced troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong in Automation and/or Navigation skill
  • Proficiency in English
