Sales Manager, JP, Marine Power

We are looking for Sales manager, Sales Japan, Marine Power in Japan. This is a permanent opportunity and its location is primarily Tokyo, Japan. Successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that we identify and pursue relevant opportunities in your area, enhancing sales of New Build and Life Cycle products in Marine Power and for closing the deals with the customer in Japan.

What will you be doing:
Sales manager, Sales Japan, Marine Power, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Main responsibility is the Order Intake OI for New Building (NB) and Live Cycle (LC).
  • Generate and Manage sales opportunities and sales leads from customers in Japan.
  • Active approach to meet yearly budget/target.
  • Increase market share and active approach in the market to develop new and existing relation(s) with customers (Yards, Owners, Design companies, Brokers…)
  • Active in generating needed reports and forecast.
  • Active, maintain and disciplined in the use of CRM and other Sales tools (Einstein, CEM..).
  • Contribute to good overall customer satisfaction.
  • Actively engage to other (global) Wartsila functions and Teams to capture opportunities.
  • Close Leads, close Opportunities into Orders and contracts according Wartsila policies and ensure a smooth transfer of these.
  • Good and professional customer communications.
  • Business intelligence and knowledge for the Area
  • Life Cycle business besides Spare Parts sales also to include upgrades & retrofits (Project Services) and supportive in Agreements business (Performance Services).
  • Able to use and develop the digital channels (online communications) for internal and external communications


To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Bachelor and/or above degrees, major in mechanical and/or electrical; preferably with sales experience in Marine or Heavy Machinery Industry
  • Experienced Sales Manager in Marine Industry with a proven track record in delivering business results
  • Ability to work in an international business environment.
  • Self-driven and self-motivating.
  • Continuous learning ability.
  • Openness & willingness to adapt to change.
  • Willing to travel intensively domestically to meet customers
  • Proficient negotiation skills
  • Wartsila product & system knowledge is a plus
  • Knowledge and familiar with the Marine Industry
  • Familiar with using of the general Microsoft software and tools for online meetings
  • Bilingual in English & Japanese
