Key Accountabilities
As a Business Controller, you will be part of an international matrix organization. You will work with SLS Business Control Management team to become a forward-thinking business partner for SLS and alongside the SLS Japan Managing Director, as a copilot, leading the factory financials.
You will analyse financial data and deliver accurate reports to support business decision-making, supporting financial planning and operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
You will develop financial models and forecasts to predict performance and assess risks. Driving continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting, and analysis to enhance business performance is a key part of your role.
Acting as a subject matter expert, you will provide expert advice on financial matters to stakeholders, sharing insights and recommendations to improve performance.
Collaboration with business units to align financial policies and processes with business objectives and optimize financial processes and controls is essential.
You will ensure that financial figures give a true and fair view of the business's position, including understanding variances and key drivers.
Actively monitoring revenue streams and capacity costs, you will support management in financial aspects and achievement of targets, including planning and setting targets for Capex proposals, FTEs, cost product and define price, margins and monitor inventories.
Proactively addressing risks and opportunities, you will support management and the wider Business Control team.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in economics, Accounting, or Finance. MBA and/or CPA is a plus.
Minimum 5 years in business partnering, FP&A, or finance controlling.
Skills:
• Forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and data interpretation.
• Building and managing financial models.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Business-level English and Japanese communication.
• Team player with strong ownership and commitment to deadlines.
• Expertise in controlling factory costs and managing global sales margins.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment.
• Generating and analysing financial reports for decision-making.
• Proficiency in SAP for financial management and reporting.
• Strong leadership and management abilities.
• Understanding of tax regulations and Japanese legal requirements.
This position offers a hybrid work environment, with the flexibility to work from home and in our Toyama office. Please note that the arrangements will be based on business needs.
