Indirect Tax Manager

We are looking for an Indirect Tax Manager (European VAT) to support our Marine and Energy after-sales service and spare parts business (Field Services) and Shaft Line Solutions. The role connects business operations, tax, and SAP to secure correct tax determination, robust compliance, and pragmatic guidance to stakeholders.
The location for this position is in Helsinki or Vaasa (Finland), or Trieste (Italy), or in the Netherlands.
Your role and responsibilities
As a business embedded Indirect Tax Manager, you will focus on these responsibilities:
- Partner with business and finance on end-to-end delivery scenarios from planning to execution, ensuring tax first time right.
- Advise business and finance on day-to-day VAT questions and complex delivery scenarios.
- Translate VAT rules into SAP: own end-to-end tax determination, maintain tax codes/master data, test and sign off changes, and drive automation and controls.
- Ensure timely, accurate compliance, documentation, and audit readiness; manage authority queries and external advisors.
- Monitor EU and local VAT changes, assess impact, train stakeholders and ensure constant update of the internal documentation e.g. VAT manual.
- Lead/support global tax projects and continuous improvement initiatives including tax technology solutions and implement Corporate level tax strategies and standards into the business.
Requirements for the position
- Degree in Tax, Law, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 6+ years of relevant in-house indirect tax experience advising on complex, multinational business & legislative environments focused on European VAT.
- Deep knowledge of EU VAT (awareness of local implementations across multiple countries is a plus).
- Experience with SAP (determination logic, user experience).
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and work with large datasets.
- Clear communicator with stakeholder and project leadership skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global, cross-functional environment.
- Fluent English; additional European languages are a plus.
