Senior Operations Expert

We are now looking for a

Operations Expert

to join our team working for a better future.

The position is permanent and the preferred location is in Trieste, Italy, but also Dakar, Senegal is a possible location.

Africa and Europe Operations Management is a specialized team dedicated to support Wärtsilä long term agreement customers in their daily and long-term operations, in order to optimize installation lifecycle costs and overall performances.

Working in strict contact with Customers and other Wärtsilä products’ experts, the Operations Management team is formed by highly skilled engineers able to support from remote on operations challenges, with the primary target of ensuring safety and smooth energy production operations and to contribute to the overall optimized plant performances and costs.

What you will be doing 

As Operations Expert, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

• Act as direct operational support expert (mechanical / automation) for internal colleagues at sites and customer site personnel
• Make analysis with adequate conclusions and recommendations (reports) for how to solve complex operational problems
• Analyse field experience and customer feedback data in order to improve operation and maintenance of the installation, as well as the products and solutions (input to tech. service)
• Provide operational support to internal and external customers
• Visit sites when deeper product, system and/or performance analysis is needed
• Follow-up of Operational and Technical Requests for the installations under LTSA
• Report the related work progress to relevant stakeholders
• Participate in customer meetings as technical operational expert, when complex operational problems are needed to be handled
• Report and propose improvement needs of the products and solutions
• Acquire know-how and follow up of the latest global development trends of respective operational expert area

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

• Technical background in engineering, mechanical, electrical combined with strong site experiences
• Advanced knowledge of specific expertise area (Engine Automation, Plant Automation, products, engines, auxiliary equipment.)
• Capability of performing operating parameters data analysis, early issues detection and prioritization of issues in order to prevent any major malfunctioning or failure
• Troubleshooting attitude on mechanical and/or electrical equipment
• Knowledge on technical drawings and flow charts
• Operator's station knowledge
• English language as a must
• Other languages seen as a plus
• Previous experiences at sites from commissioning and/or plant operations and/or chief onboard engineer seen as a plus

In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 10%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
