Senior Product Development Engineer

Senior Electrical Product Development Engineer

We are now looking for a Senior Electrical Product Development Engineer to join our Product Development and Engineering team of six people working in Project Services department. The position is permanent. The preferred location for the position is Trieste, Italy.

 

 

What will you be doing

Product Development and Engineering department provides the detailed technical knowledge and understanding needed to define proper approaches for development of new products and their ongoing engineering and design support required by the products in terms of upgrades, improvements, strategic engineering and testing & validation.

 

For us to be the best match, we expect you to have a strong and consolidated technical knowledge in electrical automation in general with specific focus on Wartsila automation systems as WECS, UNIC.

The work requires a high level of responsibility and independency, nevertheless a good attitude for internal and external cooperation is mandatory. The candidate has to be able to establish and maintain fruitful relationships with all parts involved in his working activities as Technical and Field Services, Product managers, Project Centre department etc…

 

As Electrical Product Development Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Define the hardware scope and coordinate the hardware engineering for customer delivery projects within the electrical and automation area.
  • Provide remote technical support for the installation and commissioning phase of ongoing projects.
  • Manage the engineering part of defined Service product development projects and make necessary technical documentation.
  • Support pilot installations of new products.
  • Review own and sub-supplier´s electrical and electro-mechanical design.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • M.Sc or B.Sc in Electrical/Automation Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Engine Automation Systems in general.
  • Knowledge of Team Center, Autocad, Visio, SAP.
  • Knowledge of engineering tools and project management is seen as an advantage.
  • Good command of English, both oral and written. In this role, some travels could be necessary to meet our customers around the world or to perform technical inspections on board. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel if needed even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
  • Good soft skills in general with specific focus on problem solving, interpersonal communication, cooperation and stress management.
