Service Engineer & Superintendent (Mechatronic, E&A, or Mechanical Background)

We are looking for Service Engineers or Superintendents with a background in Mechatronics or Electrical & Automation (E&A) to join our Global Field Service Team. If you are a Mechanic eager to learn and transition into the Mechatronic and E&A field, we are excited to consider your application as well!   

 
The locations for this position are Trieste or Genova (Italy). Remote working is an option when you are not in the field. 

 

Your role and responsibilities  

  

As a Service Engineer Mechatronic / E&A you will focus on these responsibilities: 

 

  • Carry out field service activities related to Wärtsilä's electrical and automation products, including commissioning, trial tests, adjustments, repairs, and maintenance. 
  • Perform on-site troubleshooting to isolate and identify root causes of failures in electrical and automation equipment. 
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed and provide comprehensive reports, including necessary details such as measurements, photos, methods, and investigations. 
  • Perform internal and external progress reporting on the status of assigned work, including tracking time and accounting for spare parts used. 
  • Inspect completed work to ensure repairs are finalized correctly, and that machinery and equipment comply with specifications and safety standards. 
  • Proactively provide technical support and guidance to customers, promoting available products and solutions. 
  • Conduct inspections and assessments of equipment and systems. 
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service delivery. 
  • Prepare detailed service reports and documentation. 
  • Stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends. 
  • Ensure all work is executed according to Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental guidelines and customer site procedures. 

 

As an ideal candidate you might have: 

 

  • Technical Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field. 
  • Proven experience in a similar role working in the field and/or onboard vessels. 
  • Technical knowledge of Mechatronic and E&A systems is highly appreciated, but we are also ready to train you. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • High motivation and a proactive attitude towards learning and development. 
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.  
  • A willingness to travel approximately 80% of the time and work in various locations as required.
