We are looking for a Service Engineer E&A to join our Electrical & Automation Fields Services Resources team and enhance our after-sales support staff. 

The preferred location for this position is in Trieste (Italy).  

 

Your role and responsibilities 

 

As a Service Engineer E&A your work will include the following tasks:

 

  • Carry out complex field service activities in electrical and automation related to Wartsila's products, including their commissioning, trial tests, adjustments, repair, and maintenance.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on site to isolate and find root causes of failures in electrical and automation equipment.
  • Lead and manage assigned self/team while on site, interacting with the customer to arrange for proper schedule to achieve desired scope.
  • Be able to assure prompt feedback to work Coordination and Resources departments.
  • Ensure that the work is executed according to Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and customer site procedures.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure that repairs have been finalized correctly and that machinery and equipment are compliant to specifications and safety standards.
  • Proactively advice and promote available products and solutions to customers. Perform site audits, supporting our sales departments too.
  • Keep track of work details and provide deepen reports, including all the necessary details (measurements, photos, way of working, investigations, etc.).
  • Perform internal and external progress reporting on the status of assigned work. Keep track and provide the accounting of time, together with the spare parts to be used.
  • Prepare technical and travel reports on time, with the collections of the expected documentation according to Wartsila quality. To be written in English.
  • Ready to travel on short notice. Away from home more than 80% of the working time.

 The tasks can also be adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. You'll be working as a part of a team with diverse expertise. 

 

Requirements for the position 

 

  • Technical knowledge in electrical and automation systems, communication networks and interfaces, sensors, actuators, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including the MS Office suite.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 80% of the time, work abroad, and work on board sailing vessels.
  • Good English skills in both reading and writing. 
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Motivated to learn through classroom and field training, with a desire for rapid professional growth.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, follow directives, and interact with people from diverse nationalities and cultures.

 

As an ideal candidate you might also have… 

 

  • Technical high school diploma in electrics, electronics, automation.
  • BS degree in marine engineering, electrical, electronic.
  • Previous experiences in similar roles or sailing while working in vessel’s engine rooms.
  • PLC programming, SCADA systems knowledge.
