Wärtsilä Global Logistic Service (WGLS), Supply Management is looking for Strategic Purchaser on a permanent basis to be part of the Catalogue Parts & Processing Valves Global Supply Management category. The preferable location for the successful candidate is Trieste, Italy. Vaasa, Finland and Kampen, Netherlands will also be considered.

What will you be doing?
 
In this role, you will be responsible for leading and developing the creation of the category and supply team strategy/action plan in cooperation with your team members. During this process, you will also ensure that the objectives and targets on Quality, Availability, Lead-times and Cost are met. 
 
As a Strategic Purchaser, your work will focus on:

 

  • Ensuring supplier’s performance and availability of materials and/or quotation on customer demand
  • Conducting strategic sourcing process for category and supply team, including: 
    • Integrate suppliers in our processes 
    • Contract coverage 
    • Supplier base optimization 
  • Acting as Services Supply Management representative inside the category team to ensure that objectives and targets are met 
  • Managing and developing supplier base, relationships and negotiations 
  • Communicating progress and development to the stakeholders 
  • Actively leading and supporting problem solving in escalated issues from divisions/support functions 
  • Participating with other departments in solving the escalated quality and delivery problems.

 
The below will enable you to shine in this role:

 

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering or Economics and Business Administration, or equivalent
  • Experience in international sourcing/engineering
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Contract knowledge with a basic legal background is preferred 
  • Analytically minded with a proactive approach towards problem resolution
  • Excellent communication skills, effectively collaborating with a variety of stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Proven ability to successfully negotiate and sustain positive networking relationships
  • Appreciate the value of teamwork and thrive in both an individual and a team environment
  • Target and result oriented attitude
  • Demonstrable ability to work under pressure 
  • Willingness to travel 
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
