Technical Services is globally a recognized technical knowledge centre within the Services Business of Wärtsilä providing technical expert services and support to external and internal customers during the life cycle of products and solutions delivered or serviced by Wärtsilä.
Wärtsilä Technical Services is looking for an Engine Automation Expert, to strengthen the Technical Services team in Trieste. In this position, you will act as an expert in embedded engine controls and automation systems.
We offer you an international working environment where you will gain and develop in-depth know-how of control systems for 4-stroke engines including their application in both power plants and marine installations.
The location for this position is in Trieste, Italy. In accordance with the local hybrid work model, you will be able to work partially remotely.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Technical Expert you will focus on these responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for external and internal customers.
- Conduct field troubleshooting and site surveys.
- Perform root cause analysis and laboratory investigations.
- Support system upgrades and software updates.
- Suggest product improvements.
- Perform investigation and survey reports.
- Collect and analyse field feedback.
- Review operating and maintenance manuals.
- Provide code resolution and obsolescence management support.
Requirements for the position
- M.Sc or B.Sc in Electrical, Controls or Automation Engineering.
- Previous experience in technical troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
- Experience with embedded automation systems, preferably in engine applications.

- Experience of generators and propulsion system.
- Willingness to travel approximately for 25% of the time.
