We are now seeking a (Senior) Technical Expert to strengthen our Wärtsilä 46F & 46DF Engine team in Global Technical Services. We welcome applicants at various levels of seniority, as this role can be offered as Technical Support Engineer, Technical Expert, or Senior Technical Expert

 

The role is offered as a permanent contract and the preferred location is Turku, Finland, but Vaasa, Finland can also be considered. Our team embraces a hybrid working model, offering the flexibility to work partially remotely.

 

To support our global customer base, occasional travel is part of the role. The typical travel range is approximately 30–90 working days per year, with flexibility to adjust the frequency according to your preferences and personal circumstances.

 

 

What will you be doing?

 

In this role, you will deliver high-level technical support for our products to both external and internal customers throughout the product lifecycle. Serving as a crucial link between R&D and the field, you will identify and initiate product improvements. Your expertise will be instrumental in resolving complex technical challenges through thorough root cause analysis and hands-on problem-solving.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

 

  • Providing high-level engine expert support for internal and external customers.
  • Making product improvements and participating in the introduction and design stages of new products and solutions.
  • Performing field testing of new products in the field.
  • Producing field follow-up materials, feedback analyses, and reports.
  • Conducting site surveys and troubleshooting in the field.
  • Creating and maintaining technical content for manuals, after-sales information, and service bulletins.
  • Following up and solving problems together with other technical departments.
  • Actively engaging in continuous competence development and acquiring new knowledge within your area of expertise.
  • Influencing and enhancing ways of working through continuous improvement.
  • Being an innovative expert in Wärtsilä’s expert organisation.

 

 

The following will enable you to succeed in this role:

 

  • BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, equivalent educational background, or qualifications gained through work experience.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Wärtsilä 4-stroke engines and related auxiliary equipment.
  • Field experience with troubleshooting, performance analysis, and reporting.
  • Motivation and genuine interest in working with engines and continuously increasing your expertise.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player approach to enable productive collaboration with team members and other stakeholders, both in the office and on-site.
  • Organised, proactive, and flexible way of working, with a self-directed approach and the capability to drive work forward independently.
  • Excellent analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient English language skills, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
  • A service-oriented mindset to provide the best possible experience for our customers.
