Civil Section Manager

Wärtsilä Energy Solutions is looking for skilled and enthusiastic Civil Section Manager. Main goal is to lead and manage the civil works at Site.

The Civil Section Manager is managing the civil works in our power generation or energy storage project jobsite.


The work is done together with Site Management and in co-operation with other construction and commissioning disciplines for mechanical and electrical teams and with our contractors.

Communication skills as well as solid track records for similar projects in international environment are required for a successful candidate.

Our projects are located globally, so language skills and cultural awareness as well as experience in working with multicultural teams is a perquisite.


As Civil Section Manager, your work will focus on these responsibilities

  • Manage, lead and supervise the civil works at site in collaboration with other stakeholders
  • Supervises all section personnel
  • Proactively manage the scope of works, material flow and secure needed resources
  • Maintain good customer relations and team spirit at site
  • Ensure quality and cost efficiency of civil works
  • Plan and follow-up work progress of civil works at site (Time management, Cost management, Risk management, Quality management)
  • Manage and update the quality documentation
  • Report periodically the civil site works status 
  • Prepare, arrange and document meetings according to needed
  • Manage subcontractors
  • Coordinate construction works with mechanical and electrical sections
  • Safeguard the compliance with HSSE policies and minimize the risks in own section


To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • M.Sc. of B.Sc. in Civil Engineering
  • Site works experience (working experience in similar tasks preferred)
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • Effective communication, team building and negotiation skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
  • Good technical background and analytical mind
  • Civil works planning skills
  • Willingness to work abroad - activities are performed abroad
  • Ability to adjust to a wide range of conditions and cultural environments
  • Project Management knowledge is an advantage
  • Good command of English, both oral and written
  • Other languages as French or Spanish are seen as an advantage
