Supply Quality Manager

We are looking for a Supply Quality Manager for mechanical equipment to join the Supply Quality Assurance family in the Wärtsilä Energy Engine Power Plants. In this expertise position, you verify that supplier products are manufactured according to standards, specifications and Wärtsilä requirements. One of the main tasks is to support to creation and maintain Quality Assurance plans with related product teams and suppliers for Wärtsilä deliveries.

 

You will be quality responsible in product teams for mechanical equipment: plant cooling, compressed air, charge air and water treatment systems. Tasks include defining and updating quality requirements, verifying Inspection and Test Plans, and monitoring products at supplier facilities in the manufacturing phase or during FATs to verify that project deliveries are operating fluently with high quality and that Quality Assurance plans are functioning. Supply Quality Managers are also participating and supporting product quality-related Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and provide technical quality support to the site. To succeed in this role it will require good collaboration skills and interaction with different departments and stakeholders.

 

Position information:

 

The preferred office location is Vaasa Finland, but other Wärtsilä locations in Finland can be considered. We are offering hybrid working possibility.

 

Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Updating and verifying quality requirements and Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) for mechanical products 
  • Quality Control and Inspections (approval/rejection) for mechanical products in Energy Engine Power Plants scope of supply
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT), manufacturing phase inspection, delivery and dispatch inspections, support process audits and evaluate new supplier capability to become Wärtsilä supplier
  • Quality responsibility on product teams
  • Monitor supplier quality performance, analyse and support Non-conformity reporting and problem-solving
  • Report inspection and quality-related findings to stakeholders
  • Provide quality support for internal and external customers

 

Requirements:

 

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Knowledge of pressure equipment, surface treatment, mechanical assembly and welding requirements
  • Minimum 5 years experience in engineering, commissioning, testing, production or quality control (Wärtsilä products experience is seen as an advantage)
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, technical specifications, contractual technical documentation, etc.
  • Good with cooperation, communication and management
  • Good problem-solving, decision-making, reporting and negotiation skills
  • Good knowledge or willingness to learn directives and product standards
  • Willingness to travel 20-40 days a year (mostly on weekdays)
  • Fluent in English and Finnish (other languages are seen as an advantage)
