ES&O Business Manager

Wärtsilä's Energy Business is looking for an experienced energy storage Business Manager to join their growing team.  Reporting to the VP of Energy Storage and Optimization, the ES&O Business Manager will assume a key role in assuring the smooth daily operations of the organization by tracking and managing key initiatives, defining and managing new projects, collecting feedback and input from cross-functional teams to create business case analyses, and following up from meetings to ensure deliverables and commitments are met in timely manner.  In addition, the ES&O Business Manager will own the agenda and preparation for weekly team meetings and other internal business reviews. 

 

The successful candidate in this role will be able to identify problems and opportunities within the organization and ultimately provide solutions that help achieve the business' goals.  This may include creating content, managing deliverables, and supporting teammates to accomplish their tasks/goals. 

 

Qualified candidates will need to be comfortable working with several projects in parallel crossing disciplines such as sales, legal, procurement, construction, services, and software development and deployment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter that can work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. The candidate should thrive in a fast paced, constantly changing environment while the industry and company go through substantial growth.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Support and execute rhythm of business activities; includes driving the overall cadence, preparation of materials and presenters, for all-hands, business reviews, off-sites and other events.
  • Maintain weekly reporting to be able to identify trends.
  • Coordinate business-wide procedures and work to improve existing processes for maximum clarity, efficiency, and success.
  • Support and / or provide input to the formulation, development and/or revision of operating policies, procedures and strategies for the organization, as appropriate.
  • Develop high impact communications for executive, manager-level, and organization-wide audiences. 
  • Partner with other stakeholders within the team and across the Energy Business.
  • Supervise daily operations and support, oversee projects of high importance.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. or B.A. Degree, preferably with relevant work experience in Energy Storage or Renewables. MBA preferred. 
  • 5+ years of business program management, business operations, consulting or equivalent experience. 
  • Outstanding project management skills to organize a busy workload and deliver projects on time.  
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Experience in building effective business processes for international teams.
  • Understanding of the energy storage value chain including key components and key vendors within those components.
  • Understanding of utility and IPP economics.
  • Demonstrated project management skills to be able to facilitate projects/programs and monitor and gather status.
  • Ability to work in and partner with cross-functional teams in highly matrixed and global environment.  
  • Impeccable attention to detail and a relentless focus on execution with the highest degree of quality. 
  • Ability to translate ideas into clear, high impact communications. 
  • Ability to excel in an ambiguous environment and effectively triage several competing priorities. 
  • Must possess high degree of self-motivation, organization, self-sufficiency, and ability. to complete tasks with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to analyze and compile large sets of data and present effective reports; Working knowledge of Python, NoSQL/Hadoop, SQL, Data Visualization, Machine Learning or similar data analytic tools a plus.
  • Passion for innovation, ability to adapt to fast changing market demands, working independently and as a team member.
  • Willingness to take ownership and produce results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a knack for productive collaboration across varying departments.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong work ethic.
