Wärtsilä's Energy Business is looking for an experienced Manager, Life-Cycle Management to join their growing team.  Reporting to the VP of Project Delivery & Life Cycle Management, the Manager, Life Cycle-Management will manage a team responsible for supporting the service, maintenance and operation of the Wärtsilä fleet of installed utility-scale energy storage projects. This includes internal stakeholders (e.g. commercial sales, regional service organizations, customer service and support centers, project management, product management, sourcing, software development and field services) as well as external stakeholders (e.g. customers, vendors, EPC partners, and subcontractors).  In addition, this includes support of the entire project life-cycle; from the sales inception and contracting, across the life of the service agreement, through to end-of-life project decommissioning.

 

Qualified candidates will be responsible for collaborating with appropriate organizations within Wärtsilä to develop the Life-Cycle support strategy for the ES&O business, as well as scaling the team to successfully support rapid growth of delivered energy storage projects.

 

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter that can work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. The candidate should thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment while the industry and company go through rapid growth.

 

Team and Self-Accountabilities:

  • Create and/or provide input to the formulation, development and/or revision of operating policies, procedures and strategies for the organization.
  • Develop service and maintenance recommendation strategies and procedures.
  • Develop spare parts processes for estimating, ordering, inventory management, maintenance.
  • Manage working relationships with the clients and all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide project status updates to senior management team.
  • Responsible for reviewing contract agreements for products and services.
  • Manage software change order activities with both internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Prepare and edit ESS technical documents between ES&O and stakeholders (customers, Wärtsilä service and support).
  • Assist Sales with Service Agreement terms and pricing to ensure service offers align with Wärtsilä policy and are competitive.
  • Maintain service pricing calculation tools.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience with the energy storage and renewable energy projects and products (bi-directional inverters, various battery chemistries, PV, wind turbines, etc.).
  • Experience and understanding of utility generation project engineering, construction, and commissioning processes.
  • Understanding of storage industry vendor’s warranty terms, products, and services.
  • Ability to read and understand energy storage system contracts.
  • Proficient in MS Project and the MS Office Suite, plus familiarity with Agile Software Development, and JIRA.
  • Applicant must have good English communication skills, be motivated, organized, self-sufficient, personable, curious, and able to complete tasks without strict oversight.
  • Passion for innovation, ability to adapt to fasting changing market demands, working independently and as a team member.
  • Willingness to take ownership of issues and initiatives.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic approach.
  • Ability to travel to domestic and international project meetings (Approx. 10 - 25%).

Education and Experience Pre-Requisites:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering, although relevant work experience in Energy Storage and Renewables will also be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in energy storage or renewable energy equipment service and maintenance industry.
