Wärtsilä North America, Inc., Entertainment Systems is seeking a qualified candidate to fill an Account Manager position located in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  We are seeking to find an energetic, positive, customer-oriented and proactive individual.  Qualified candidates will thrive in playing a key role in supporting the cruise industry to maintain their audio-video entertainment solutions perfectly operating to ensure their customers enjoy a unique experience.  The Account Manager will report directly to the GM, Sales, Marine.


Wärtsilä FUNA solutions is a global leader in Cruise Entertainment, Safety & Security and Architectural Lighting intergraded solutions for the cruise and marine markets.  We are a full service company offering our clients a complete solution from design to aftersales maintenance and support on a global basis.  We are searching for an enthusiastic Account Manager with sales experience to join our unique team and focus on our cruise ship dry dock revitalization business.


Qualified candidates will manage our cruise customer accounts by supporting them within all areas of entertainment system and equipment needs. Qualified candidates will be capable of receiving requests for quotes for spare parts and projects and generating proposals and will be responsible for the project management of various cruise ship dry dock and entertainment system upgrade projects. In addition, qualified candidate will maintain a high level of interpersonal (people) skills required to manage a diverse community of sale professionals; including inside sales, sales support, account managers and international portfolio managers for products in production and will build a strong relationship with our customers to grow our business.  Qualified candidates must be willing to travel domestically and internationally and work in a global team of professionals (50 - 70%).

Main Responsibilities:


  • Grow sales and improve profitability of customers within Wärtsilä existing installed base and within the cruise and marine markets.
  • To focus on growing sales in our cruise ship dry dock revitalization business.
  • Generate customer intelligence and explore new business opportunities within the cruise and marine industry.
  • Accountable for Strategic Sales Plan for cruise ship dry dock revitalization business.
  • Develop Account Business Plans and follow-up.
  • Assess the full cruise and marine market potential, outside of existing installed base.
  • Define the sales approach to customers.
  • Build value propositions for sales opportunities (packaging solutions) as required to develop markets.
  • Maintain both cruise and marine solutions team and services aligned and involved.
  • Work in complete alignment with our customers’ requirements and needs.
  • Develop strategies along with new solutions to support our customer’s long term development requirements and needs.
  • Improve cross-business sales and customer relations management cooperation to increase our product offering awareness within our marine customer base.
  • Benefit customers’ business through cross-division and global offerings.
  • Improve coordination for global customers.
  • Increase customer focus in the global Wärtsilä organization.


Minimum Experience and Educational Requirements:  


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Sales experience within the cruise or marine industry preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 10 or more years desired.
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of Customer Relationship Management within the cruise and marine market.
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
  • Exercise active listening, build trust in networks and relationships and provide feedback continuously in a constructive manner.
  • Successful experience in analyzing and evaluating total costs in complex business circumstances and provide recommendations for the optimal solutions and approach.
  • Highly developed communication and diplomacy skills used to guide, persuade and influence others internally or externally.
  • Independently resolves issues as they arise.
  • Successful track record of selling at a strategic level, developing win-win solutions.
  • Evaluates complex situations using multiple sources of information. Solve problems that are complicated, or novel requiring the ability to filter, prioritize, analyze and validate complex dynamic material.
  • Strong computer literacy and the ability to use the Microsoft Office product suite including Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Advanced Excel skillset with the capability of creating and managing spread sheets; including advanced features such as look up tables and external references.
  • Advanced negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multitask on multiple projects.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or team structure.
