In-Situ Technician

As an In-Situ Technician, you are required to follow the instructions and guidance from fellow OSM Specialists, Machinists and or Quantiserv Management to carry out In-Situ Technician (Trainee Machinist) responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including operating and maintaining lathe, milling, horizontal milling and grinding machinery and any other on-site machining equipment on directions by OSM Specialist and Machinist or Wartsila Quantiserv management given directions

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

• Assist In-Situ Specialist and or Machinist with On Site Machining tool setup’s and changes

• Assist In-Situ Specialist and or Machinist pre-pare, assemble, test, clean, pack and unpack

• Assembles, repairs, and fabricates metal parts by operating any mechanical workshop equipment like lathe, milling, boring, drilling machine;

• Assembles parts into sub-units and or complete units;

• Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product in Metric and Imperial standards;

• Evaluation of engine/machine components according to original Manufacturer specifications and or Quantiserv-ISO standards;

• Maintaining of all Quantiserv machine shop machinery and OSM tooling after use;

• Completion of measurement sheets according to ISO standards;

• Operate all types of measuring tools Micrometers Dial gages in Metric;

• Use of Metric tooling as needed or directed;

• Preparation of tools, consumables and materials;

• Preparation of jobs including field/shop for service execution on direction of Specialist or Machinist and or Management;

• Execute machining works under guidance of a OSM Specialist or Machinist onboard vessels, power stations and diverse industries all around the world;

• Maintain work space clean and organized;

• Assist in workflow and improvement of same;

• Follow specific courses defined by Quantiserve to attend specific work stations as oil rigs and Oil drilling vessels if necessary (OSHA, Helicopter survival, Oil rig safety training);

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

• School - Minimum two (2) years related education with workshop machinery and processes like Lathe, Horizontal boring mill, Radial drilling machining, Tapping, related cutting speeds and safety

• And or High school diploma or equivalent

• Travel – A valid driver’s license and passport are required and able to travel around the world for periods of time

• Design –  Some knowledge in reading technical drawings most in metric and sometimes standard measurements

• Equipment – Capable to safely operate lathe, milling, drilling and or grinding machines.

• Computers and Electronics - Knowledge of computer hardware and standard Microsoft software like Word, Excel, Outlook

• Safety - Basic knowledge of mentioned machining equipment, policies and safety procedures acquainted with these machining processes.
