Job description:  Manager leading the Gas Engines team to ensure development and solve complex technical and operating problems. Solve complex technical and operating problems of the customer as well as report and propose product improvement needs in order to reach quality and cost targets and ensure customer satisfaction. Analyze complex technical problems experienced by clients and provide solutions. Provide improvement ideas about products, solutions and ways of working based on Area experiences to relevant global organizations. Participate in product development and product improvement projects as Area representative. Participate in development of new working methods within own responsibility area. Propose product improvements for OEM products. Provide timely and quality technical support to internal and external customers. Visit sites when deeper product, system and/or performance analysis is needed. Participate and lead technical site audits to improve external and internal (CM) customer installation’s efficiency and availability. Provide quality leads to the Sales organization to improve Wartsila’s and customer’s business. Analyze field experience and customer feedback data in order to improve the products and solutions as well as operation and maintenance of the installation. Support in technical matters when new products or components are developed and launched. Propose content for technical information products (e.g. Service Bulletins). Support less experienced technical experts. Participate in customer and/or vendor meetings as a technical expert, when complex technical matters are handled. Acquire know-how and follow up the latest global development trends of specifically gas engines and Wartsila products in general. Develop the technical competences of junior Technical Service, Field Services and Contract Management technical personnel in the Area. Provide improvement ideas about products, solutions and ways of working based on Area experiences to relevant global organizations. Travel and work at client sites as assigned. Requires 20% domestic and international travel to conduct site visits. Telecommuting allowed.

 

Job requirements:  Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a directly related field plus five (5) years of experience with 4-stroke engines. Experience must include:

Five (5) years in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

  • Mechanical experience on diesel or gas engines;
  • Working with diesel and gas processes;
  • Experience in a role requiring expert OEM knowledge of servicing modern gas, engine, engine auxiliaries, control, performance support and troubleshooting;
  • Experience designing, installing, commissioning, and servicing marine engines, power plants or gas engines;

Three (3) years in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

  • Leveraging knowledge of electrical and control systems;
  • Leveraging knowledge of auxiliary systems;
  • Leveraging knowledge of overall plant or ship systems;
  • Experience making recommendations for product development and technical information analysis; and
  • Experience in a role training internal and external customers or a client facing role

 

40 hours / week, 8:00am-5:00pm.
