Wärtsilä Voyages Americas, Inc., Transas currently has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Junior level service technician from the electronics/computer sector to join our customer support team in Melbourne, FL.

 

We are seeking to find a qualified, energetic, positive, customer-oriented and proactive individual.  The T4 Junior Customer Support Service Technician position will report directly to the Regional Customer Support Manager.

 

Qualified candidates will gain detailed technical knowledge of our systems through formal classroom and on the job training.  Under the supervision of field personnel, the Junior CS technician will assist with the onboard installation, maintenance and repair of the Transas navigation product range.  The ideal candidate must be self-driven with a desire for growth and possess the ability to communicate well with others, enjoy working with a team and be a valuable company representative.

 

This position will also assist with remote phone support to solve technical and maintenance issues.

Responsibilities:

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the onboard installation, maintenance and repair of the Transas navigation product range.
  • Assist with remote phone support to solve technical and maintenance issues.
  • Have installation experience to mount modular equipment, layout cables and terminate.
  • Have the ability to interpret technical drawings and documents.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe work area.  Be able to work aloft.
  • Follow all safety guidelines.
      

Minimum Experience and Educational Requirements:   

  • Associate degree in a related field preferred or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Experience/knowledge on electronics and network communication, preferably within the marine industry or a combination of education and experience 3 or more years desired.
  • Know how to use test equipment and tools required to diagnose systems including: Oscilloscope, Multimeter, TDR, Data Tester, and OEM specific IT tools. 
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and passport and be able to obtain TWIC accreditation for maritime port access.  
  • Possess intermediate computer skills in Windows OS, Microsoft Word and Excel. 
  • Be well-organized and detail-oriented, having the ability to communicate effectively and provide written reports of system status and issues.
  • Superior customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse groups.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations.
  • Possess a high level of initiative and willingness to learn.

 

Languages: 

  • Fluent in English (written and oral).

 

Travel: 

  • Qualified candidates must be road warriors and willing to travel domestically and internationally with minimal notice at times and work in a global team of professionals.  Travel for this position is up to 60%.
