Senior CAD Designer - American Hydro Corporation

We have room on our CAD Design team at American Hydro Corporation, located in York, PA.  Work in an exciting industry that has a rich history in the York area.  Be part of a close knit team that is always looking for new ideas to improve this "old school" energy source.  

 

The ideal candidates for this role would have at least 5 years of experience as a Designer in a heavy industrial setting.  Are you detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently with hands on mechanical ability?  Then keep reading, this might be for you!  

Education: 
•    Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five to ten years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Accountabilities: 
•    Lead engineering resource on designs that do not required detailed engineering analysis.
•    Works independently to prepare complete product designs, assembly and detail drawings following the general instructions and direction of the Supervisor of CAD Design and Chief Design Engineer
•    Makes various calculations such as strength of materials, weights, forces and stresses, frequently using charts and tables
•    Prepares bills of material 
•    Checks work performed by other department employees
•    On time completion of drawing deliverables
•    Quality costs attributable to engineering
•    Cost savings realized through design reviews and value engineering

 

Main Responsibilities: 
•    Customer contact for technical issues.
•    Prepares layouts, assembly and detail drawings per American Hydro standards and contract requirements.  Also develops special machinery design, test equipment, tools, fixtures, and gauge design
•    Analyzes various design requirements and recommends possible solutions or alternate constructions.  Prepares and evaluates tolerance stack-ups
•    Provides information when required for cost estimating, such as blank layouts and processing sketches
•    Makes orthographic or isometric illustrations required to support marketing
•    Satisfy ISO Quality Standard as it relates to the design function
•    Assists purchasing in securing quotations and expedites materials and delivery.  Perform source inspections at subcontractor facilities.
•    Discuss technical aspects of the order with the customer and vendors as required
•    Coordinate with shop to resolve questions and problems that arise during manufacture

This position could include opportunities to travel within the US and Canada if there is interest for this.  As the engineering office is attached directly to our shop, this position would have the ability to interact with the manufacturing process and see their designs come to life!
