The Role:

Sensors, lasers, radar, video analytics, Kalman, Fourier, Hough, Bayesian, C++, C#, autonomy, human factors, machine perception, AI, neural net, Agile, object-orientated, test-driven, DSP, FPGAs, microcontrollers.

You will work in a multi-disciplinary team in a supportive environment. What you don’t know already, you can learn once you get here. Whether you are degree-qualified with a few years’ experience, looking for your next step, or you have extensive experience in this field we want to hear from you.

We’ve got well established products doing a vital job on thousands of ships across the world. We’ve got an exciting development programme which will equip intelligent ships of tomorrow with smart sensors and a perception of the world around them.

 What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

  • Research state of the art approaches to tackling problems, create a prototype and turn this into robust software solutions.
  • Develop new and existing software applications as part of engineering team.
  • Contribute to existing software architecture and signal processing algorithms in our products.
  • Establish, maintain and extend in-depth technical expertise in the latest advances.
  • Signal Processing prototyping and implementation.
  • Writing and Maintaining code base (largely C++ and C#).
  • Literature review.
  • Algorithm design.
  • software testing.


What will make you successful?

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics.
  • A specialised focus in Robotics during studies would an advantage.
  • Expertise writing maintainable and testable code in C++ & C#.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, teamwork and can-do attitude.
  • Knowledge of Agile development practices, source control and continuous integration considered a strong advantage.
  • Understanding of object orientated design patterns.
  • Experience with Machine Vision techniques.
  • Experience with data analysis tools (e.g. Python/Matlab).
  • Algorithm development (e.g. AI, sensor fusion, robotics).
  • Experience of working with sensors (radar, vision, lidar etc).
