Multi Skilled Engineer

As a Multi Skilled Engineer you will be trained and to become a fully skilled Propeller Repair Engineer. Once fully trained you will carry our repairs to bronze ship propellers through welding, heat straightening and grinding, polishing and general engineering duties.

 

The successful candidate will be multi-skilled with general engineering knowledge, experience of welding different materials would be advantageous.

 

You will be part of our Propulsion Team in our Glasgow Workshop and UK and Worldwide travel can be required at very short notice.

 

 

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

 

  • Carry out repair to bronze ships propellers by MIG welding, TIG Welding, also Stainless Steel and Duplex Welding, ( welding training and certification will be provided to the right candidate) heat straightening and grinding as well as Polishing of propellers, general engineering duties.
  • Travel UK and Worldwide can be required at very short notice so you must be flexible to these requirements.
  • Ensuring that all timesheets (signed by customer) and expense sheets are submitted on a weekly basis
  • Liaise closely with the Propulsion Team Leader to ensure service deadlines are met.
  • Ensure that all work carried out is to ISO 9001/2000 standard.
  • Ensure that all activities in the workshop and on-site are carried out in accordance with the site safety rules and in compliance with the Company’s Health and Safety obligations.
  • To assist with problem solving and recommendations for repairs.
  • To adopt a pleasant, adaptable attitude when requested to assist Company staff with any “ad-hoc” duties that may be required.

 

What do we expect from you?

 

  • Hands-on welding and/or blacksmith experience in a multi-skilled role, would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided
  • Knowledge of propellers would be advantageous but not essential
  • Pro-active and independent individual with a team player attitude
  • High attention to detail with a methodical approach & practical problem-solving skills
  • Fluent in English, verbal and written
  • Able to travel nationally and internationally as and when required
  • Please note that relocation costs and/or immigration support is not available for this position
