Customer Support Field Engineer

What we do:

 

The Field Support Engineer is responsible for performing Wartsila Voyage system installation and maintenance. He /She represents the Wartsila Voyage Customer Support team on-site to ensure work is completed professionally. Together with Support Coordinators and Technical Support Specialists he/she is “the face to the customer”.

Core responsibilities and tasks are supporting and servicing our installed navigation systems installed on thousands of commercial, governmental and military vessels worldwide. Our focus is on quality, efficiency and safety and the ideal candidate should have these factors always at the forefront of the mindset.

The successful candidate will be based out of our office in Porsmouth, however, will be required to travel globally. 

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

 

  • Stay-by onsite deployment based on Customer requests
  • Adhere to service requests on date & time, location, scope of work and any other instructions
  • Troubleshoot and inspect findings to determine source of problem, rectify or replace with Customers’ agreement
  • Escalate any issue beyond the service scope to responsible CS team/management
  • Ensure Customer is briefed on worked performed and service report is prepared and signed off by Customer
  • Ensure service work rendered complies with internal Service & Support processes
  • Ensure compliance to Code of Business Conduct and Quality Management system requirements
  • Support projects or other technical jobs required
  • Deliver all service case documentation in time as required (drawing adjustments, service reports, expense reports, etc.)

 

What do we expect from you?

 

  • Degree / Diploma in Engineering /Computer Technology /Electronical/Electronics Engineering or  IT/ Networking
  • OEM Technical training certificates preferred
  • Knowledge in ERP system is preferred
  • Technician or equivalent experience in Marine Electronics (advantageous)
  • IT experience 
  • Radar knowledge  / experience (advantageous)
  • Communication - English; written & verbal  (secondary language advantageous)
  • Customer Focus - Customer comes first 
  • Results orientated - delivers results, prioritises, effective & efficient time management
  • Problem solving skills - structured and analytical
  • Drive & Enthusiasm - self-motivated
  • Abillity to work independently
