Manager, Finance and Accounting

We are actively seeking a Manager, Finance and Accounting to manage a team responsible for reporting monthly accounts to Corporate, oversee Tax and Transfer Pricing matters, maintain and improve robust financial control across all regions and manage statutory audits for key Group entities.


This a permanent role and will be based out of our offices in Portsmouth, UK.



What are your main tasks and responsibilities?


  • Month-end closing procedures to include; ensuring meeting monthly deadlines for all Transas offices, preparation of IFRS consolidation and required breakdowns for Wartsila monthly\quarterly reporting in HFM as well as day-to-day work with FP&A and Corporate reporting team on the rectification of mistakes and further improvements
  • Administration of IFRS audit process throughout the group – ensuring in effective communication and information availability; control over the schedule and deadlines
  • IFRS financial statements preparation to include;  preparation of HQ standalone financial statements and reporting packages, interaction with Group’s subsidiaries, gathering and processing information received  as well as working on establishing and automatization of proper reporting processes and policies
  • Methodological support for IFRS reporting process to include; preparation of forms for reporting, application of specific standards within the company, advising subsidiaries on filling the reporting forms and supervision over local GAAP to IFRS mapping of Transas Group companies: periodic review together with local staff and approval of changes in mapping
  • Responsible for day to day General Ledger accounting issues in UK and Irish legal entities
  • Supervision of Regional Financial Controllers and junior team members (GL & Reporting accountants) 
  • Intercompany Reconciliations of Wartsila Voyage together with Customer’s and Supplier’s Leads
  • Responsible for Transfer Pricing calculations and VAT submissions for Wartsila Voyage UK


What do we expect from you?


  • Degree in a Finance related field or similar level qualification with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA qualified
  • Sound knowledge of accounting rules and IFRS principles, taxation rules and experience in preparation IFRS Consolidations and Accounts
  • Direct line management experience as well as dotted line management
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • ERP systems user (SAP/Oracle/Navision)
  • Fluent in English
