(Senior) Design Engineer

Wärtsilä Power Supply, R&D and Engineering, Small & Medium Design Management is looking for several (Senior) Design Engineers to strengthen some of the teams developing design solutions for our 4-stroke engines.
The preferred location for all these positions is Vaasa, Finland but also Turku, Finland, and Trieste, Italy are possible locations. We offer the possibility of hybrid work.
Your role and responsibilities
As a (Senior) Design Engineer, you will perform demanding design tasks and engineering work to ensure that our products and services meet the required quality standards and the actual customer needs. This position gives you an excellent opportunity to learn and grow as a design and engineering professional in the domain of 4-stroke diesel, gas, and multifuel engines.
Your typical activities will include:
- Design engine components and systems and produce 3D models, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Ensuring that design is cost-efficient, compliant with design guides, assembly/maintenance optimized, and delivered within a given timetable.
- Participate in the development of new design solutions together with other R&D professionals.
- Participate in product care activities.
- Giving design-related support to our manufacturing units and technical support to other stakeholders.
- Prepare design plans for large development projects (cost, interfaces, scope, quality, effort estimation, risks, schedule).
- Actively support the development of internal design rules, guidelines & regulations together with other R&D experts.
Requirements for the position
- B.Sc or M.Sc in Engineering or similar education.
- Experience with 3D design tools (Siemens NX) and familiarity with the Teamcenter environment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing technologies e.g. forging, casting, welding, sheet metal, AM, etc.
- Good command of English, both oral and written.
- Good communication, cooperation, management, and teambuilding skills.
- Ability to solve problems and make decisions.
- Previous work experience in design/engineering environments.
- Knowledge of Polarion and cost analysis tools is considered an advantage.
