We are looking for an environmental expert to join our Emission & Abatement team in Energy EPP Technology, with a main responsibility in providing emission expertise and solutions that enables our engine power plant business globally. The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Finland. We offer the possibility of hybrid work. 
  
Your role and responsibilities  
As an environmental expert within our technology organisation, you will work in a team where power plant solutions based on Wärtsilä engines and customer environmental needs and requirements, are turned into sustainable solutions. You will support our sales and delivery projects and contribute to the transition towards a more sustainable fuel and energy landscape.
The expertise field is broad and requires continuous learning, tasks are adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. 
 
Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

• Providing environmental expert support to sales project evaluations, case analyses and emission performance guarantees
• Providing environmental expert support to delivery projects, to secure and validate environmental compliance according to contracts 
• Leading development projects within own responsibility areas and support also in other development projects 
• Being responsible for developing and maintaining guidelines and tools for emission calculations and evaluations
• Being responsible for continuous knowledge sharing related to best practices for our stakeholders
• Providing input for road maps and framework development (lobbying) 
• Ensuring product information and data related to own responsibility areas are up to date so that plants can efficiently and reliably be offered and delivered
• Collecting data from running installations and feedback from stakeholders, analysing and documenting improvement needs and ideas
• Planning and executing quarterly product improvements based on prioritised items in the product backlog

 
To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have: 

• A MSc (in chemical, environmental engineering or similar)
• A strong technical background with deep understanding of emissions, abatement systems, emission measurement methods, regulatory frameworks, internal combustion engines and power plant solutions, or just the right theoretical base and an enormous interest and capacity to learn and develop within this area. The entrance title can be adjusted based on previous experience, and expertise gaps will be bridged through learning.    
• An understanding of environmental requirements from a holistic perspective and can ensure that all angels of the solution are considered and communicated properly
• A target oriented, focused, analytical, systematic approach with strong problem-solving skills
• Good understanding of customer and stakeholder needs and requirements and can turn these into practical solutions
• Strong collaborator skills: you can manage a large span of stakeholders and lead virtual teams
• Experience in process and product development as well as project management
