(Senior) Instructor

We are seeking an Instructor / Senior Instructor to join our skilled team at the Wärtsilä Land and Sea Academy Training Centre in Vaasa, Finland. This is a permanent position with the flexibility of a hybrid working model, allowing you to work partially remotely.
What will you be doing?
As an Instructor in our Training team, you will be responsible for providing training in our academy or on-site for our external and internal customers. You will ensure training quality, create and maintain training materials, and continuously work towards enhancing your Wärtsilä product knowledge. To deliver training sessions to our customers on-site, occasional travel (approximately 4 to 8 weeks per year) will be required.
As an ideal candidate, you have strong professional knowledge and significant experience with Marine and Energy installations, commissioning, services, or operation. Knowledge of Wärtsilä technology will be highly valued, combined with a strong understanding of internal combustion engine technology.
Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:
- Practical execution of training in our WLSA Training Centre or on-site (approximately 4 - 8 weeks per year)
- Delivering theoretical training online, from the Training Centre or from your home office.
- Developing new training materials, concepts, and equipment in the WLSA Training Centre in Vaasa.
- Actively participating in training delivery related day-to-day activities.
- Continuously strengthening your knowledge of Wärtsilä products and staying up to speed on the latest industry technologies.
The below will enable you to succeed in this role:
- BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering or relevant work experience to compensate for lack of formal education.
- Strong background in engine automation and systems (WECS, UNIC C1-C3, UNIC 2nd Gen).
- Professional knowledge and experience with installation and/or operation of power generation and distribution systems and/or Marine systems
- Overall knowledge in power plant and vessel auxiliary equipment
- Knowledge of mechanical side of engines, and willingness to develop own skills on this.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills, and a desire to work in multicultural environment.
- Quality, safety, and environmental focus.
- A results- and development-oriented approach to work.
- Experience in training delivery is highly valued – adequate training will be provided.
- Proficient English language skills, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Finnish and other Nordic languages is advantageous.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 4 to 8 weeks per year to deliver trainings on-site.
