(Senior) Project Purchaser

Wärtsilä Marine, Customer Delivery, is looking for a highly motivated and results-driven (Senior) Project Purchaser to strengthen our team. The preferred location of the position is Vaasa, Finland.
You will primarily support the Fuel Gas Supply System projects, which focus mainly on engineer-to-order projects. As a global leader in the marine market, we specialize in LNG, Methanol, and Ammonia fuel systems.
Your role and responsibilities:
As a Project Purchaser, you are responsible for project-related purchasing activities within nominated projects, such as securing the purchasing budget and coordinating the deliveries according to project requirements and supplier time schedules. You are also responsible for offer evaluations and project-specific purchase negotiations with suppliers.
In your work, you will also ensure alignment and cooperation with relevant stakeholders. The main tasks are:
- Project-specific RFQ, supplier negotiations & Purchasing
- Purchasing plan creation
- Project & delivery follow-up
- Logbook creation
- Responsible for inbound deliveries
- Late delivery & quality claims
- Certification follow-up
As an ideal candidate, you would have:
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Economics or Engineering or similar
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Solid supply chain knowledge
- Proven track record in international sourcing
- Solid experience in SAP and MS Office tools
- Strong personal drive, used to take own initiatives and being pro-active
Qualifications/to be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have:
To succeed as a Project Purchaser, you should be a team player with good negotiation skills and a result-oriented attitude. It is very important to be organised and proactive.
The tasks require accuracy, so you should have strong problem-solving and analytical skills as well as the ability to work under pressure.
