Application Engineer 
We are now looking for an Application Engineer focusing on sales support and development to join our growing product management team.  
The position is permanent and the preferred location for the position is in Vaasa or Helsinki, Finland. 
In this position, your work will include optimizing customer solutions and support our Europe, middle east and Africa / international sales and proposal team. Gather, and manage, market/customer/internal requirements as well as actively engaging cross functionally to support the organization with ESS solution related tasks. 

 

What will you be doing
On a typical day, you might be starting with a supplier call with sourcing and end the day assisting the sales team. You will not be working on this alone, even though the work requires a high level of independency, as you will have the support from your new colleagues in the PM organization and other stakeholders. For us to be the best match, we expect you to have a good electrical engineering experience from working in energy storage solutions.  Alternatively, in working in the energy / power systems field. 

 

As Application Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Help to Configure battery energy storage systems including component selection, site layout, cable schedule, auxiliary load estimation, HVAC sizing, and battery sizing and augmentation strategy. Conduct cost benefit analysis to optimise system configurations and equipment selection, assist in the development of product requirements, and collaborate in the development of business cases for customers or internal development initiatives 
  • Collaborate with sales, proposals, and engineering in the development of value propositions for micro-grids and hybrid power plants including equipment selection, performance guarantees development, and optimal resource mix 
  • Develop and document methodologies and best practices to design and configure energy storage systems 
  • Provide pre-sales support to the sales, business development, and proposals teams 
  • Develop product technical documentation including application notes and input to product manuals 
  • Provide customer feedback and market requirements back to the PM organisation to further product development and portfolio management. 
  • Collaborate in a team environment and/or take charge of opportunities to develop optimal solutions for customers and development programs 

 

As an ideal candidate, you have gained experience from the energy storage industry.

You will shine in this role when you have:

  • 3-5 years of electrical engineering experience focusing in power systems and/or renewable energy 
  • Experience designing and configuring battery energy storage systems and battery enclosures 
  • Ability to conduct energy studies and determine optimal resource mix and technical requirements for such resources 
  • Knowledge of energy markets and different mechanisms power producers generate revenue 
  • Proficiency with Autocad. MS office tools, programming. 
  • Solving customer’s needs and issues 
  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers, peers, subordinates, vendors, shop and office in a fast paced environment 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Team player attitude internally and externally and excellent communication skills 
  • Willing to travel 40% of the time
