Automation Quality Assurance Lead

Wärtsilä Marine Power Solutions RDE (R&D and Engineering), Automation & Controls is looking for an Automation System Quality Assurance Lead. As a Quality Assurance Lead, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and quality of our embedded automation systems. Your expertise will contribute to the seamless integration of software and hardware components, guaranteeing exceptional user experiences for our customers.

 

Location for this position is Vaasa or Turku, Finland. We offer possibilities for hybrid remote work.

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Define an overall QA strategy and collaborate with architects, product managers/owners and technical leads to develop quality plans for our full stack automation system.
  • Lead the definition of guidelines for testing in all levels of validation, verification, quality gates etc. which shall be implemented to achieve the set QA strategy.
  • Participate on creating traceability between requirements, design, implementation and testing.
  • Support Product owners with providing evidence of our QA system efficiency for Marine Classification agencies.
  • Provide dashboards for QA quality gates and measures for transparency of quality.
  • Participate in requirements gathering meetings and provide estimates for software test automation tasks.
  • Support our DevOps team to develop test automation and management tools.
  • Identify, communicate, and track issues to closure, working closely with cross-functional development teams.
  • Promote and document automation testing processes, including automation of regression test sets.

 

Required Skills:

 

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Process engineering, Computer Science or similar.
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining automated test plans and test cases.
  • Familiarity with functional product, integration, and regression testing.
  • ISTQB or ITIL certification is a plus.
  • Experience with test automation tools like Robot framework.
  • Additionally, tools/languages such as:
    • Java
    • Python
    • GIT
    • Atlassian toolset
  • Test / behaviour driven development (TDD/BDD) mindset is crucial.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Passion for quality assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent teamworking, coaching and communication skills to spread the knowledge to the whole organization.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English, our everyday work language is English.
