Wärtsilä Marine, Power Supply, R&D and Engineering, Testing & Validation is looking for a Chief Test Engineer/Test Engineer, SCE Testing.
 
As a Chief Test Engineer / Test Engineer, you are working in the front end of Wärtsilä’s engine and technology development. We are offering you the possibility to participate in the development of future engine technologies and to contribute to the accelerating realization of decarbonization objectives as a part of a skilled test team. The position is permanent, and the location will be in Vaasa, Finland. You will report to the Manager SCE Testing.
 
As a Chief Test Engineer / Test Engineer, you will focus on these responsibilities: 
 

  • Maintenance, development, and upgrading of test engines and test infra
  • Steering, guiding, and carrying out mechanical assembly tasks related to different test setups
  • Planning, organizing, and executing component, performance, and functionality tests on laboratory engines and test rigs
  • Analysing and reporting of test results
  • Verification of correct and properly saved measurement data
  • Usage of different control and measurement programs
  • Update and development of test methods and facilities
  • Supporting different activities in engine and technology testing
  • Co-operating with product/platform teams and expert organization


To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
 

  • Relevant technical education (MSc or BSc in mechanical engineering)
  • Interest in and basic knowledge of engine technology. Deeper knowledge of 4-stroke engine technology is an advantage
  • Good skills in control & measurement systems are an advantage
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Good skills in communication and documentation
  • Good team working skills, as well as the ability to work independently
  • Good command of English and Finnish or Swedish

 
We also hope that you demonstrate a clear attitude in:
 

  • Making things happen by executing measurement setups and doing mechanical activities on test engines and laboratory engine test cells
  • High quality by ensuring that the test results are reliable and in compliance with industry-specific standards and Wärtsilä guidelines
  • Cooperation by balancing the workload in the team
