Development Engineer

We are looking for a Development Engineer to the Plant Performance team in the Energy Business Technology and Product Management business unit. This position will be reporting to General Manager, Plant Expertise. 
In this important position you will support sales, projects and our internal expert organization with development of our portfolio of performance calculation tools.

 

 

Location:

The position is located in Vaasa, Finland. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Development of in-house calculation tools.
  • Develops software solutions by studying information needs, interact with users, study systems flow, data usage, and work processes, investigating problem areas and follows the software development lifecycle.
  • Data analysis, Software documentation, Software testing and problem solving.
  • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
  • Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, code comments and clear code.
  • Updates job knowledge by studying latest development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment, participate in educational opportunities, read professional publications and maintain personal networks.
  • Protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Provides information by collecting, analysing, and summarizing development and service issues.

 

Requirements:

  • MSc or BSc in Engineering, Computer science or equivalent
  • Experience of program coding and working with databases
  • Interested in problem solving and developing own competences 
  • Good understanding of thermodynamics, mathematics, process control and chemistry
  • Team player with a structured way of working
  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required
  • Experience in C#, C++ and VBA seen as a benefit
  • Experience of 4-stroke medium speed engines and power plant performance seen as a benefit
