We are looking for a Director, Energy Financial Business Services with the main responsibility to lead a team of expert and advisory functions, providing services to the Energy Business. The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Finland but also Helsinki, Finland and other major Wärtsilä locations are negotiable. We offer the possibility of hybrid work.

 

 

Your role and responsibilities 

 

As a Director, Energy Financial Business Services your work will be to lead the Energy Financial Business Services organisation, which covers activities such as Trade Finance and FX hedging, Credit control, Taxation, Invoicing & Export documentation, and Project creation. You’ll be a part of the Energy Finance & Control team reporting to Vice President, Finance & Control, Energy.

 

 

Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the Energy Financial Business Services organisation, covering Trade Finance and FX hedging, Credit control, Taxation, Invoicing & Export documentation, and Project creation.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the team in line with Wärtsilä values, fostering engagement, accountability, collaboration and high performance.
  • Ensure optimal resourcing and competence development and ensure flexibility to changes and demands in the business environment.
  • Ensure reliable, high‑quality, and timely financial services with clearly defined service levels to internal stakeholders across the Energy business.
  • Enable effective decision‑making and ensure mitigation of financial risks.
  • Continuously develop, automate, implement, and maintain standardised, efficient, and compliant processes in line with Wärtsilä Corporation accounting manual, policies, and external requirements.
  • Work in close collaboration with Group Treasury to ensure effective financial risk management, including FX and trade finance risks.
  • As a member of the Energy Finance & Control leadership team, contribute to strategy definition, action planning, and long‑term development of the Energy Finance & Control function.

 

 

To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:

 

  • MSc. Economics and at least 8-10 years of work experience with Trade Finance, FX Hedging and taxation. It is seen as an advantage if the candidate has experience from the following areas: credit controlling, invoicing and project creation.
  • Solid and proven track record of leading finance & business control organisations in a global and complex business environment.
  • Solid understanding of large project business as well as services. Energy business experience is seen as an advantage.
  • Recognised leader with great ability to build high performing teams based on trust and leads by example and enables collaboration across organisations.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with big picture thinking.
  • Drives Wärtsilä Purpose and demonstrates Wärtsilä values; Customer Success, Passion, Performance.
  • Has continuous improvement mindset and ability to coach people to grow and learn.
  • Fluent English is mandatory.
