Documentation Engineer

In Wärtsilä Marine, Customer Delivery, we are looking for a highly motivated and organised Documentation Engineer to strengthen our team. The preferred location for the position is Vaasa, Finland.

 

As a Documentation Engineer, you collaborate closely with project delivery teams, providing essential support to ensure successful project completion. This role is vital as it involves coordinating class submissions and managing other documentation tasks to ensure that our designs receive approval from classification societies.

 

You will primarily support the Fuel Gas Supply System project, which focuses mainly on engineer-to-order projects. As a global leader in the marine market, we specialise in LNG, Methanol, and Ammonia fuel systems. Our primary mission is to facilitate the transition to 100% renewable fuels for our valued customers. In addition to our expertise in LNG, Methanol, and Ammonia, we are actively involved in the development and sale of fuel systems for other promising future fuels, including Hydrogen. With our innovative solutions, we are committed to driving the maritime industry towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.

 

Your main responsibilities:

 

  • Handle documentation and comment correspondence with class societies and other third parties
  • Be responsible for the documentation handling activities within customer delivery projects, such as sending manufacturing drawings to manufacturers
  • Act as a representative and ensure compliance for own organisation with general environmental and safety regulations (e.g. IHM, REACH)
  • Manage and update internal documentation templates and standards
  • Develop and implement more efficient methods of documentation handling activities, including implementing automatic processes
  • Participate in the development of future fuel supply systems supporting decarbonisation
  • Cooperate with internal teams and functions - both project delivery organisations and lifecycle organisations
  • Develop and deploy tools and methods for documentation handling and other documentation-related activities

 

As an ideal candidate, you would have:

 

  • A proactive, systematic, and organised way of working
  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Engineering, Economics, IT, Business Administration or similar
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Understanding of engineering and technical documentation
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
  • Willingness to learn and act as a key user of documentation tools, knowledge and experience of RPA is seen as a benefit
  • Knowledge of Sharepoint, PowerBI and similar tools is seen as a benefit

 

To succeed as a Documentation Engineer, you should be a team player with good coordination and communication skills and a result-oriented attitude. The tasks require accuracy, so we look for a candidate with strong problem-solving and analytical skills as well as the ability to work under pressure.
