Electrical Supervisor/Commisioning Engineer

Energy Business Construction and Commissioning Services is now looking for an Electrical Supervisor/Commissioning Engineer. In this role, your main responsibility is to plan and supervise electrical installation and commissioning activities at the project site. This position will therefore require travel abroad for approximately 250 days per year.
This position offers you an opportunity to use and expand your expertise in an international and dynamic environment, working on new-build power plant installation and commissioning. Projects, production locations, Wärtsilä offices, customers, and suppliers can be found all over the world. This is a permanent position and the home office location is either in Turku, Vaasa, or Helsinki, Finland. Please note that living in one of these home office locations is not compulsory.
Responsibilities during installation:
- Guide electrical subcontractor(s) at the site
- Ensure that planned works are executed according to the Last Planner System
- Maintain good reporting practices
- Ensure that electrical as-built drawings are completed and communicated
- Safeguard compliance with HSSE policies and minimize risks in electrical installations and tests
- Coordinate construction and installation works in cooperation with Civil and Mechanical disciplines
- Perform inspection of received material and goods at site
- Participate in the electrical weekly site meetings
- Perform quality control and installation inspections at the site
- Guide the subcontractor(s) with electrical design and installation instructions
- Assist the subcontractor(s) in planning, organizing, and executing electrical works
- Advise and support the client in planning, organizing, and executing tests
- Ensure that safe inspections and test procedures are followed
- Instruct subcontractor(s) to use accepted test and inspection methods and proper test equipment
- Perform testing of installed equipment and document test results
- Maintain punch list
- Ensure that all required documents are submitted and signed by the customer for taking over of the plant
Responsibilities during commissioning:
- Perform start-up and tests of equipment within the scope of the contract
- Follow the commissioning plan
- Follow commissioning and performance test procedures
- Ensure that all test results are documented according to Wärtsilä instructions
- Safeguard compliance with EHS policies and minimize risks during commissioning
- Ensure that safe commissioning practices are followed
- Resolve and record technical problems during commissioning
- Participate in the site commissioning meetings
- Ensure that safe and calibrated test equipment is used
- Maintain good reporting practices
- Guide operation personnel with plant design and functionalities
- Assist the client with commissioning procedures and testing
- Ensure the safe and reliable function of the plant and equipment
- Ensure that as-built drawings are completed and communicated
- Maintain punch list
- Ensure that all required documents are submitted and signed by the client for taking over of the plant
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards
- Understanding of utility generation construction, and commissioning practices (working experience in similar tasks preferred)
- Good communication and team-building skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
- Willingness to travel
- Ability to adjust to a wide range of conditions and cultural environments
- Good command of English, both oral and written
- Other languages are seen as an advantage
Please note that relocation costs and/or immigration support in moving to Finland are not available for this position.
