Wärtsilä Marine is looking for a Simulation Expert for the Structural Analysis team. As a member of the Structural Analysis team, your role is to perform demanding numerical analyses by using the finite element method (FEM). The work consists of performing and reporting simulations of dynamic, fatigue, stress and strength calculations.

 

Position information:

 

This position is permanent, and it is located in Vaasa, Finland or Trieste, Italy.
 
Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform and report mechanical simulations related to product and technology development projects
  • Develop and maintain simulation methodologies and processes to enable first-time-right of Wärtsilä products and to reduce time to market
  • Problem-solving related to structural strength
  • To perform data analyses for simulation and measurement data
  • To propose and initiate any training activities aiming at maintaining or improving the personal technical knowledge and skills
  • Focus on the following component areas: Cylinder head and valve mechanisms, fuel systems and gas systems

 

Requirements:

 

  • BSc, MSc or PhD in Engineering
  • Good theoretical knowledge of numerical calculation methods and tools, such as Abaqus, HyperMesh, Optistruct or similar software
  • We appreciate experience with other numerical methods, such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD), numerical noise analysis and multiphysics simulation
  • Communication skills in English
  • Ability to work in an international organisation
  • Positive, proactive attitude and ability to learn
  • Flexibility and good team working skills
  • Innovative mindset

 
We appreciate:

 

  • Data analytics skills, such as machine learning and signal processing
  • Experience with other numerical methods, such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD), numerical noise analysis and multiphysics simulation
