Wärtsilä is always looking for talents to help us reach our decarbonization goals for the maritime industry and our societies.
  
We are looking for an Expert in Thermofluids & Simulation with a main responsibility for Design iterations and optimization using CFD. The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Finland. 
In our particular team, we focus our efforts toward decarbonization using open-source simulation software and contributing back to the community.
  
Your role and responsibilities:
 
As an Expert in Thermofluids & Simulation, your work will be about operating a Virtual Laboratory with the rest of the team: That includes updating design, preparing, running the simulations and analysing the results from a performance and thermal point of view.  The tasks can also be adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. You’ll be working as a part of our cutting-edge Thermofluids & simulations team with diverse expertise.
 
Requirements for the position: 

 

 

  • A Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Experience in CAD Design (I.e. NX/Teamcenter) in an industrial context
  • You like finding analytical solutions to problems (I.e. finding the ideal formula to shape a curve in a CAD drawing) and are not afraid of math
  • Some basic coding skills (I.e. python, bash) and at ease with a Linux environment 

 
Qualifications/to be able to succeed in the position we wish you to have: 

 

 

  • Experience with CAE simulations tools is a plus (FEM, FVM or 0D/1D tools)
  • Experience with OpenFOAM CFD software is a big plus
  • Experience with meshing for 3D simulations is a big plus
  • Knowledge of 4-stroke engines

 

Of course, we will teach you the above skills whenever needed.
