Expert - Process Engineering

We are now looking for an Expert – Process Engineering to develop the power plants of the future operating on sustainable fuels. As an Expert in Process Engineering within Wärtsilä’s Energy Business Technology function, you will play a key role in executing the development roadmap for zero- and low-carbon Energy Business power plant solutions. As a domain expert, you will work in close cooperation between Engine R&D, Power Plant Technology, Energy Services and Sales to develop and deliver new technologies based on sustainable fuels such as hydrogen, ammonia and methanol.  
Location information:
The preferred location for this permanent position is Vaasa, Helsinki, or Turku, Finland. Other locations in the European time zone may be considered.
Your main responsibilities are: 

  • Translate solution requirements to engineered solutions for sustainable fuel-operated power plants (hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, biofuels)
  • Provide technical support within own discipline for sales, project delivery and non-conformity organisations
  • Create P&ID’s, functional descriptions, system descriptions and component requirements
  • Perform process calculations and simulations
  • Participate in cross-disciplinary process safety assessments as a subject matter expert
  • Collaborate with technology and engineering sub-suppliers

Requirements for the position: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant area
  • Minimum 3 years of experience of process engineering
  • Self-going with motivation to learn and grow professionally
  • Good communication, negotiation and team working skills
  • Ability to assess cross-disciplinary impacts and harness synergies  
  • Experience in power plant technology: engines, gas turbines and/or fuel cells 
  • Experience in working with hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol is a strong merit
  • Goal-oriented mindset, analytical skills, and you enjoy problem-solving
  • Fluent written and spoken English
