Fuel Injection Technical Expert

We are now looking for a Fuel Injection Equipment Expert to join our skilled Fuel Injection Equipment team in Technical Services as a Technical Expert. The role is offered as a permanent contract. The preferred location for the position is Vaasa, Finland, but Turku, Finland and Trieste, Italy can also be evaluated.


What will you be doing?

 

As a Technical Expert on Fuel Injection Equipment, you will be supporting customers by improving the technical and the operational performance of our products. As an ideal candidate, you hold a broad understanding and a deep knowledge of components within the main area of Fuel Injection Equipment and Systems (FIE). Green fuel and Gas FIE development is part of our daily work, and we hope that you are eager to face that challenge.

 

For this technical advisory role, we expect you have an appropriate technical background, willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, proactive way of thinking, entrepreneurial initiative, fast innovation skills and independent decision-making capability. You will be part of a global, innovative, and customer-driven organisation working with high level technologies.

In this role, some travel is required to support our customers around the world. Thus, you should be ready and willing to travel around 30 - 60 days per year.

 

The Fuel injection Technical Expert is expected to:

  • Manage gas related topics
  • Provide high technical support level to internal and external customers
  • Support our internal departments in FIE related issues in upgrading and retrofit projects, with the focus on gas systems.
  • Specify FIE component conditions for optimal product utilization to keep engine parameters within given values to safeguard a reliable and economical operation
  • Specify rejection criteria, repair and recondition methods for assigned components
  • Act as technical advisor in technical discussions and negotiations with customers and vendors
  • Perform and follow field tests of new products/component optimization
  • Acquire know-how from the latest developments and trends within own expertise area
  • Deliver content for after sales information and training support
  • Make product improvements and product documentation,
  • Perform, advice and participate in failure analysis.
     

The below will enable you to succeed in this role:


  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education background.
  • Capability to approach technical issues methodologically and analytically in terms of investigations, improvements, and implementations.
  • Significant experience with engine design, operation, maintenance, and/or fuel injection.
  • Proactive, systematic, and organized way of working.
  • Passion for learning and for development of new technologies, along with willingness to adapt.
  • Strong communication skills and a service-oriented mindset.
  • Good teamwork and self-management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel globally.
  • Strong English language skills, both written and verbal.
     

The below will be considered an advantage:

  • Experience with Gas and fuel injection systems.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and material’s technology.
     

Pay Transparency

The primary location for this role is Finland, but this role can also be based in Italy where the annual salary range would be 41,588 EUR – 56, 505 EUR in accordance with the salary provisions in the applicable National Collective Labour Agreement for workers in the metalworking and plant installation industry (CCNL Metalmeccanico).


At Wärtsilä, we are committed to fair and transparent pay. The salary range shared reflects the expected compensation for this role in that Italian location, based on market data and our job architecture.


The final salary will be influenced by factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the required competencies, and your relevant education, skills, and experience / and the salary provisions in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. We also take internal equity into account to ensure a fair and consistent approach across our organisation.
